LeBron James' 2009 King for Kids Bike-a-thon was held on August 22, 2009 in Akron, Ohio. Wizard of Ah's helped produce the event that featured many activities including a post ride celebration at Lock 3 park featuring entertainment, food, games and a reward ceremony.
The King for Kids Bike-a-thon recognizes and rewards Akron-area children who have achieved academic success, improved their physical fitness and made important contributions to the community.
James, along with many celebrity friends, lead the pack of bicyclists as they pedaled through the 8 mile bike course that took them through the city past James' former high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary, and the Akron Zoo. The ride topped off a fun filled weekend that also featured a screening of James' documentary, "More Than A Game", the story of how he and four childhood friends from the inner city acheived their dream of winning a highs school national championship.
Celebrities in town for the festivities included: TV host Nick Cannon, NBA Hornet's Chris Paul, Cleveland coach Mike Brown, Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry and Lil' JJ.
